The way of peace
Muslims, Jews and Christians share a common belief in having Abraham as father. As part of the covenant with God, Abraham and his descendants were to be a blessing to all the people of the earth. In part that was through teaching them about the one true God, but it was more than that, they were to show hospitality and to be honourable.
That honour was through the ten commandments given to the prophet Moses: They must worship only the one true God and must have no idols. They must honour the name of God and must keep a day special for the God. They must not to kill. They must honour their parents, must remain faithful to their wife or husband and they must not to steal nor yearn for what their neighbour owned.
Our identity should be shown by our relationship to God and the way we deal with other people.
Yet we see Jews killing Muslims and Muslims killing Jews and Christians, Jews and Muslims stealing from each other. As well as killing we see them wanting what other tribes or nations possess. Sometimes they steal land, sometimes other valuable items from other people. We see this between the Palestinians and the Israelis today. As a community breaking down barriers between the Abrahamic faiths we deplore the killing and stealing on all sides.
If we follow the one true God, then that is our identity. And within this community, we know this will always be the way of peace. Our identity is that of peacemakers.
